Worcestershire is perhaps the second "Garden of England" after Kent.
The Vale of Evesham is renowned for its fertility and the theme of
the county's fruitfulness runs right through this video. We experience
the marvellous diversity of its scenery from the blossoming Vale to the ancient,
impressive Malvern Hills, which dominate the landscape and inspired Elgar
to write some of his finest compositions. The historic city of Worcester,
with its famous cathedral, is explored in depth and we also
take a look inside the Royal Worcester Porcelain Factory. Other places
featured include Malvern, Evesham, Bewdley - and Droitwich, with
its amazing brine baths. We seek out stately homes, their history
adding to that of the county, with its close links with the English Civil
War and the Gunpowder Plot. Local industries, leisure pursuits and
geology have not been forgotten.
